FRAP FRAP FRAPGuys. When you write nostalgia/retro articles, you're supposed to talk about how games were better in the 80s -- not the 90s! The 90s was like, yesterday!

I am referring to this article...

The Top Ten Reasons Gaming Was Better in the Early '90s [via 4CR]

...which is a bit clumsy in some places, containing phrases like, "Unfolding before my very hands and eyes..." but on the other hand it makes some accurate and worthwhile observations; for example:

God forbid these days if a game releases without online multiplayer. Whatever would we do if we actually had to interact with other people?

The best part about "couch multiplayer" is no pre-pubescent jackasses screaming racial slurs into a headset. If anybody on a couch gets out of line, restoring order is only a punch away.

YES TO THAT.

What is the point of multiplayer if you are still sitting in a room by yourself. I suppose human opponents might provide a challenge that computer opponents cannot, but if you perceive human interaction as a series of challenges, well... how about the challenge of leaving your house and meeting people, FATSOOO!!

This is good too:

Before Rise of the Robots came out, it was a lot easier to differentiate a bad game from a good one on the virtue of its graphics alone, simply because better graphics was indicative of a higher level of effort on the part of the designers.

You know, I'd never thought of it that way, but that's a very interesting point. Someone could probably write a whole article about that.

SOMEONE could.

She is magical.Japanese DS title Game Center CX is, in a way, a collection of eight retro-style games... but in another way, something more and greater than that. Either way, it’s awesome.

There are two reasons you might read this review:

  1. You’ve never played Game Center CX and want to know all about it.
  2. You have played Game Center CX and are therefore in a position to appreciate the terribly interesting things I have to say about it.

These are both good reasons! So read it I reckon.

Then, go and read every other review on this website, because they are all great.
