Yeah, I’m sick of doing these (THEE-EEEE-EESE), so this is the last one. Also, I’ve lost some enthusiasm for promoting Captain Rainbow ever since I was told by people who would know that there is not even a tiny chance of the game being released in English. If there’s one thing I’ll never give up on, it’s defeatism!
Of course, I will still welcome Captain Rainbow fanart that’s good. But I will no longer post just any old half-arsed crap, like this contribution from Dylan Richardson for instance:

“I know he is a colourful hero,” writes Dylan, “but I didn’t colour him ‘cause I’m not.” Now don’t talk that way Dylan; you are one of God’s precious children.
This next thingy is from Ashley Day:

Ashley writes: “In a wonderfully postmodern twist I decided to draw the art in a game of Archime-DS, thereby linking two of the coolest games to come from the minds at Skip. So while the ‘quality’ of the illustration may be in question, the level of my fandom most definitely isn’t.”
What.
What, you want some kind of PRIZE, Ashley? Is that it? You think you’re CLEVER?
Get out.
This one is from Miss Eien K, and heeeyyy, it’s actually pretty good!

Oh and hey, remember how some guy called Matias Kallio sent in a game he made, that had nothing to do with Captain Rainbow? Well he made another one, that also has nothing to do with Captain Rainbow! Golly smackers! It’s called Transparent Senses, and it will probably give you a headache, but it’s still more fun than any Final Fantasy game.
And, uh... that’s it. Huh. I thought there was more.
But since we’re on the subject of fanart, I’ll leave you with this completely incredible Eegra picture, emailed to me by Kitty Alcapaz.

There’s Orson, and Mister Blobbypants, and Daniel, and a lady who looks a bit like me! Kitty, is the suggestion that there is something effeminate about my bearing? I’ll have you know that the only womanly thing about me is all the women who are around me all of the time, because of how manly I am! Goodness me. |

Guys, guys! There is a Mighty Jill Off fanart competition happening. It is happening RIGHT NOW. Holy jesus!
You remember Mighty Jill Off, right? We reviewed it and then we interviewed its creator, Anna ‘Dessgeega’ Anthropy. In that interview, I said that Dess’ games have strong characters. Well, now you – YES YOU SIR OR MADAM – can draw those characters, and win prizes. And of course you can draw pervy shit if you want. But, you know, I’m sure cute stuff is good too!
You can learn about the competition here and here. You have until the end of this month to enter. Don’t worry if you don’t have the time or talent to create a masterpiece, because no-one does, and there are runner-up prizes, so you ought to enter something. All the prizes involve custom artwork by Mighty Jill Off artist Harvey James Harvey James Harvey, so YEEEAAAH, DIG IT.
Also, from Dess herself:
“alternately, my slut is organizing a competition for the worst mighty jill off mspaint fan porn, if that’s more your speed. the prize is a diaper ‘customized’ by her.”
Fantastic! |

Holy gosh, people keep emailing me things for the FANART FESTA!
Here is a picture by Matias Kallio, of Captain Rainbow himself. Isn’t he terrifying?

Matias also writes:
“In somewhat related news, I have made a game. Its name is inspired by CAPTAIN RAINBOW. It is called captain superstar and the irony tower. I think it is a GOOD name.”
Thanks for sharing, Matias! I enjoyed your strange game. I enjoyed the glitches particularly: Even though they are unintentional, I feel they are in keeping with the game’s somewhat eerie inscrutability.
But Matias! Your game has nothing to do with Captain Rainbow, even a little bit! What are you trying to pull??
A fellow called Ivan sent in this incredible animated GIF:

Thank you so much, Ivan! Ivan’s deviantART is here, if you’d like to see more of his work.
A young lady called Miss Emily ‘Remidi’ Beaman drew the ladies of Captain Rainbow, and coloured them with technology:

And here is that same picture at Emily’s deviantART. Thanks, Emily – you are the ‘Remidi’ for there not being enough Captain Rainbow fanart! Ha ha! Ugh.
Finally, here is a quick doodle by someone called florn:

The doodle is a rainbow, and it is attached to Captain Rainbow! Get it? (The rainbow is his doodle.)
Well I have to go and take my incontinence pills now, so see you later, kids! Don’t forget to send in your amazing Captain Rainbow fanart, and also your shitty Captain Rainbow fanart. |

Hey gland! I mean, gang! Gland?
Did you know that we are having an Ongoing Captain Rainbow Fanart Festa? What this means is that if you email me any kind of Captain Rainbow fanart, I will post it here on the front page. CRAZY MADNESS ALL STOCK MUST GO FROM THE SHELVES AND AWAY FROM HERE!
A Finnish fellow called Nego, aiming to promote his webcomic, Too Bad, drew a Captain Rainbow panel. I don’t understand the joke, or even if there is one, but it’s a cute picture, and anyway I’m hardly in a position to be judgmental about that sort of thing. Here’s Nego’s deviantART page, while I’m at it.
Here’s something pretty cool: Someone called Nishifan made some Captain Rainbow Wii Picross puzzles. You can see a .GIF of the solutions here, if you like. Pretty nice work!
Finally, Jonna Ohlsson is responsible for this MS Paint drawing of Birdo doing a mystery to herself, and giving a thumbs-up if I’m not mistaken (full version here):

Thanks, Jonna! You are terrible.
See, I’ll post any old crap, thanks to the Ongoing Captain Rainbow Fanart Festa. Take advantage of my low standards, and email me your crayon scribbles and finger-paintings! Actually that would be entirely awesome. Definitely do that. |

Been meaning to post about this for a few days. Cartoonist, illustrator and Eegra-friend Rebecca Clements made a pretty stunning piece of Captain Rainbow fanart. Here’s a chunk of it:

You can see the full picture on her LiveJournal or her deviantART. Go and look!
I’m in favour of raising and maintaining awareness of Captain Rainbow, hopeful that doing so might increase the likelihood of Skip’s rather subversive game being released in English one day. So how does this sound? Let’s start some sort of...
Ongoing Eegra Dot Com Captain Rainbow Fanart Festa
...where, subject to my discretion, if anyone sends me a piece of Captain Rainbow fanart, I will post it on the front page.
So, if you’d like a little extra website traffic, or a few more people browsing your DeviantART gallery, or if you just want to be on the Eegra front page because you love us so much, just draw some Captain Rainbow fanart and send me the link! (If you don’t have your own webspace, you can send me the image, but please make it no wider than 500 pixels.)
Go! Go go! Do it now! NOW NOW NOW! |

Hello, rosy-cheeked plebeians! Do you remember our YMCK fanart competition? Well it's over now, and I'm pleased to announce that bloody victory has been achieved by...
Joob
...who did this:

It's a YMCK-themed PLASTICINE PLANET, inspired by the band's music videos. In Joob's own words:
Featuring;
the castle, temple, houses, mountains from starlight,
Race track from Panic Racers,
And YMCK's logo surrounded by tetris blocks
So basically it's a big ball of NEATO. Here's the other side:

Pretty awesome, right? Joob even made a slightly dizzying animated .GIF to properly flaunt his splendid handiwork, which you can see by clicking here. (Mirror here.)
Congratulations, Joob! Readers, why not drop by the competition forum thread, and thank Joob, and in fact all our entrants, for sharing their excellent whatsits with us.
SPECIAL MENTION: Forum member chuanoplast almost won, with her adorable and epic cut-out videogame mural. Here's the bit with YMCK in it:

...but you can see the whole thing, and you really ought to, over at her flickr set. I recommend viewing the large versions of each image, to fully enjoy the artwork and all the little details. Totally gorgeous work, chuanoplast -- please enter our next competition, too!
OKAY WELL DONE GUYS, SEE YOU NEXT TIME. JOOB WINS A CD AND THINGS. |

Eegra Presents
The Robyn Grellet Memorial
YMCK
Fanart Competition
You there! Do you like things? Of course you do! Well we HAVE THINGS. Things that soon, YOU will have – if you can snatch them from our greedy talons, with the power of DRAWING PICTURES!
“What ith thith withardry you thpeak of!?” you sputter violently, so baffled and enraged that your tongue just flops right out and you make a big slobbery mess everywhere. Well calm yourself, dear reader, dab your chin with a sponge, and dear read on.
We all love YMCK. Their tunes are good, their videos are good too, and their live shows are written about on excellent websites by brainy and handsome people. They recently released a new album, and OH MY GOD LOOK!!

Do you know what that is? It is three things, and what they are is...
- YMCK’s brand new album, Family Genesis
- A limited edition YMCK sticker and button set, from their 2007 European tour
- A limited edition and totally freaking rad YMCK gachapon ball, containing a Midori keychain and another little keychain too, I think. I haven’t opened it! It’s not mine! It’s not anyone’s... yet.
ALL THIS CAN BE YOURS!
All you have to do is draw, paint, craft or in some way make some YMCK fanart, and post it in this forum thread. (If you’re not a forum member, it’s free and easy to join, and you don’t have to post anything ever again if you don’t want to.) The All-Seeing Eye will silently, furiously judge all the entries, and choose one fanart as THE GREATEST FANART. The genius responsible for THE GREATEST FANART will win the things!
Entries will be accepted until midnight, February 18, Japan time, or maybe a little longer if I forget to close the thread. You may enter as many times as you like!
By entering, you are granting Eegra Pty Ltd a non-exclusive license to use your entry in whatever way we like, for all eternity!
Please check back in two weeks to see if you won, because if we can’t get in contact with you (to get your postal address and so on), we’ll wait about a week and then give your prize to someone else. What a slap to the face that would be! Don’t make us slap you!
The competition is open to all humans everywhere.
THAT’S IT
THAT’S ALL THE INFORMATION
GOOD-BYE |

Introducing The Magnificent All-Seeing Eye Upon deviantART, wherein we take videogame fanart seriously enough to review it. "In God's name, why?" you ask – and we are compelled to reply, do not question the Eye, nor invoke your puny god in Its presence.
The subject of this debut edition: Princess Peach!
FAIR WARNING: Some bits of this might be not safe for work, depending on where you work.
