Mushroom?? ZOW!!

Wowseroonies!

So hey, I'm in Seoul now, and I'm taking a break from Eegra for a couple of weeks. Oh, don't cry. Don't cry. Stop it.

Stop it or I'll cut you.

Okay! Dan will still be here, sharpening the cutting edge of internet hilarity with his diamond wit, and AS WELL, there will be FIVE HILARITY GUEST COMICS, solicited by me from celebrity cartoonists -- two beautiful ladies and three sexy gentlemen.

BUT WHO, PATRICK, WHO??

Well, it's 'whom', actually, and just for that I'm not telling. You'll have to wait and see.

The comics, I should mention, are all great. You will love each and every one of them, with all your heart. MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, you say? What, are you Randall Munroe? (Fuck off if you are.)

I'll see you guys on November 6th, unless Obama doesn't win, in which case I'll have shot myself.

Oh, and before I go -- I should mention that Dessgeega has just released her new, improved version of Mighty Jill Off, NOW WITH SECOND TOWER. Read all about it on her blog.

Bye gang! I love you! Kissy kissy!

RUNNING!!

Guys, guys! There is a Mighty Jill Off fanart competition happening. It is happening RIGHT NOW. Holy jesus!

You remember Mighty Jill Off, right? We reviewed it and then we interviewed its creator, Anna ‘Dessgeega’ Anthropy. In that interview, I said that Dess’ games have strong characters. Well, now you – YES YOU SIR OR MADAM – can draw those characters, and win prizes. And of course you can draw pervy shit if you want. But, you know, I’m sure cute stuff is good too!

You can learn about the competition here and here. You have until the end of this month to enter. Don’t worry if you don’t have the time or talent to create a masterpiece, because no-one does, and there are runner-up prizes, so you ought to enter something. All the prizes involve custom artwork by Mighty Jill Off artist Harvey James Harvey James Harvey, so YEEEAAAH, DIG IT.

Also, from Dess herself:

“alternately, my slut is organizing a competition for the worst mighty jill off mspaint fan porn, if that’s more your speed. the prize is a diaper ‘customized’ by her.”

Fantastic!

STICK THEM UP PADREYes! Here is an interview with Dessgeega, the creator of Mighty Jill Off, Calamity Annie, and other excellent things. I can tell you, honestly and enthusiastically, that this is a bloody good interview: long and meaty! She even tells us a little bit about her next game. But more importantly, she tells us about her ideas, her life, and her philosophy of game design. I bet you like a hundred dollars that this interview is way more interesting than the next interview you read with, say, Shigeru Miyamoto.

“What what? More interesting than Shigeru Miyamoto? But he is a very important genius!” True, dearest reader. But consider that the only people who get to interview Shigeru Miyamoto are cock-gobbling suck-ups, who ask stupid questions like, “Will there be another Zelda game? Is Nintendo planning another DS redesign?” Like that shit matters, you idiot! Just wait and find out! You get to interview Shigeru Miyamoto, and that’s what you want to know? Jesus christ, you must be the most boring fucker alive.

God.

So, yes: Dessgeega. Clicky clicky!

GRRR!We are all over these game artist blogs lately! We are clumsily flirting with them across the table, and after we get back from the loo we are sitting down right next to them, our leg pressed against theirs, and we are draping ourselves over them in what we drunkenly imagine to be a casual fashion, and loudly whispering in their ear that they ought to take us to a love hotel.

David Hellman has posted part two of his ‘The Art of Braid’ series, and to no-one’s surprise, it’s really interesting! He shows us seven versions of the same screen, demonstrating the evolution of the game’s art style, as he and Jonathan Blow guide the mutations. David also discusses the sometimes tricky relationship between – to put it in gamer terms – ‘graphics’ and ‘gameplay’. Turns out they’re interdependent, which will be a blow for some of you nerds, I’m sure.

Please note, by the way, that the location of David’s blog has changed.

Hey, remember Mighty Jill Off, that game I reviewed a short while back, and every single one of you downloaded and played because otherwise why do I bother? Well, James Harvey, the artist responsible for the game’s pretty, pretty pictures, has a LiveJournal, and recently he wrote these words on it:

“Over the next few days I'm going to be posting some of the unseen designs and preliminary art I made for the game. Turns out there's quite a bit!”

He’s talking about Mighty Jill Off, you guys! So check that shit out, DAWWWWWG!

Any other game-related artist blogs I should know about? Probably!

The title of the game is a pun that refers to masturbation. How much free time do you have today? Not much time at all? Good, because that's exactly how long it takes to play Mighty Jill Off, the best freeware game released last week. You can read all about it in my review! How convenient for you!
