[This was supposed to go up on Friday but we had GODDAMN PROBLEMS.]
Wow, we got sent some actual cards that are legitimate, from real companies! Oddly, all the companies seem to have hired the same designer. It’s a funny old world.
Here’s one from Namco. Gosh!
We are so special to have received a custom birthmas card from Sega:
Not sure whom this next one is from. (The return address says ‘videogames’.)
I’m told Ambrosia makes shareware for the Mac. Imagine that!
Here’s Capcom, trying to bribe us with filthy pornography, AS USUAL:
And we got this, from whoever’s in charge of Q*bert these days:
Also, young Tim sent us another of his colourful texta drawings, FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
At about this time of year, you may notice, all the videogame blogs begin to post scans of the Christmas cards they’ve received from the various game developers and publishers they share a symbiotic relationship with. It has become a tradition of sorts – one that we at Eegra are, anagramatically, eager to be involved with. The problem is that few in the industry are aware we exist, and those who are probably don’t like us, and those who do like us can’t admit it publicly.
Do you know what else? It was our birthday this week. Eegra is one year old!
So, your challenge this week is to create counterfeit birthday/Christmas cards for us – ‘birthmas cards’ – from all the publishers and developers you can think of. They might look something like this:
Hopefully less retarded but we’ll take what we can get. The forum thread is right here. We look forward to showing off your unconvincing pretend cards as though they were real and people give a shit about us.
In case you only visit Eegra once a month: Kreativity Korner Klan is a weekly feature where I go, “Hey, do a thing,” and then people do it and the person who does it best wins a picture by Tim, a happy spaz we keep around. Kreativity Korner Klan lives here, on the forums, by gobbly!
LAST WEEK’S CHABBENGE
AND THE WINNER IS
Ike-Mike, who wanted Tim to draw Ike from the Fire Emblem series, which he did:
And I want to give an ‘honourable mention’ to loinbread, who squeezed this god-knows-what from his mind’s diseased vagina:
There was only a handful of entries this week! For whatever reason, people are apparently more confident doing scribbles in MS Paint than they are banging pots and pans and yelling into Windows Sound Recorder. Anyway, you can download all the entries in a zip file I posted at the end of the challenge thread.
THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE
Got it?? WELL HUNKY LUNKY DUNKY! Here is a big version of the fatty, for editing, and here is the forum thread in which you will post your amazing fucking entries. YES. Do it now. Do it for real. UGH!!
is a person on the forums called Plainclothesman, who turned this...
...into this...
And there were other good entries too. Here are two!
This one is by Remidi:
This one is by KinokoFry. It moves! Watch it GOOO!
You can see the rest -- some great, some terrible, I'm not gonna lie to you -- in the forum thread.
Anyway, Plainclothesman's prize is a drawing by our friend Tim. He (she??) wanted Tim to draw Heaven. HERE YOU GO PLAINCLOTHESMAN; YOUR ETERNAL REWARD:
Oh and here is bcube's prize from last week. SHEEEEE wanted Tim to draw the characters from an old Disney cartoon called The Cookie Carnival, which turns out to be the source of all gayness in the universe.
You too can win a drawing such as those, simply by entering and also winning
THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE
This challenge is for people whose creative urges tend towards the musical. Or just any idiot with a microphone. I think this girl on television is saying that her hair is a lobster. How can I be sure what's real?
I particularly like the penultimate panel. And isn’t it clever how bcube turned that closed door into an open door with an angry head poking out of it. Oh that clever bcube. He (she?) wins a picture drawn by Tim for his superhuman efforts. I guess you might see it next week?
Here are a few more entries, to give you despicable, elitist ‘casual browsers’ an impression of what went on, in the fun-filled Kreativity Korner Klan forum – or ‘the REAL Eegra’, as we call it.
From Lightguy:
From Shadow:
From Plainclothesman:
And there were many more excellent and creative entries, and some shitty ones too! You can see them all in this forum thread. I’ve even put a ZIP file at the end, with all the entries in, for your convenience. Who knows if I’ll be bothered doing that again.
Anyway...
THIS WEEK’S CHALLENNNNNGE
Well, since the Komplete-a-Komic went so well, let’s do another one. THIS ONE:
Big version is here; please post your entries here.
NOW IT IS THE BEGINNING OF A
FANTASTIC WEEKLY FEATURE!!
Here’s how it works: Each Friday, I will post a fearsome ART CHALLENGE. You have a week to do the challenge and post your work to the Kreativity Korner Klan forum. The next Friday, I’ll post the winning entry (and maybe some runners-up), and the next challenge.
The winner gets to commission a drawing from our young friend Tim! Remember Tim? He did this and this and this, and he loves to draw videogame characters. Like this:
Simple enough, non? I AM FRENCH I AM SAYING ‘NON’ TO YOU.
OKAY.
This Week’s Thingo
It is a comic. But the comic is not finished; OH NO! Your job is to finish it. You can simply add words, or, more complicatedly... well, I don’t know! You show me, HO HO HO!
The big version (for editing) is here; please post your entries here.
That’s it! See you in the forum, and also next week. (And also during the week, doing other things.) GODSPEED.
