Default Miscellany

Does anyone here own a DS game published by D3 Publisher? If so, does it rattle when you shake it?

I just got Bangai-O Spirits and it has something loose inside it. I've googled "Something loose inside DS cart" and the first result was a thread asking about rattling carts, and that game is published by D3 Publisher also.

Incidentally, a lot of my and other's posts revolve around games. Would a miscellaneous thread in PP be alright?

I also have Puzzle Quest and I just checked, it does rattle. I had never noticed that before.

Of the games on my desk:

Games that rattle:
Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Clubhouse Games
Rhythm Heaven
Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends
Picross DS
Puzzle Quest
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
Mario Party DS
Personal Trainer: Walking
Scribblenauts

Games that don't rattle:
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Elite Beat Agents
Super Mario 64 DS
Retro Game Challenge

There you go.

Just checked mine too.

Games that rattle:
  • Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
  • Brain Age
  • Mario Kart DS
  • Puzzle Quest: Challenge of The Warlords
  • Picross DS

Games that rattle only slightly:
  • LOL
  • Tetris DS
  • The Dark Spire

Games that don't rattle at all:
  • Mario and Luigi: Partners In Time
  • Retro Game Challenge
  • Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Advance Wars: Dual Strike
  • Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
  • Final Fantasy IV
  • Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
  • Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
  • Pokemon Pearl
  • Gunpey DS
  • Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2
  • Game Center CX 2

The only interesting thing in there, to me, is that my Apollo Justice doesn't rattle. I thought this would be something that would be consistent on a per-game basis.

Game that rattle slightly:
  • Kirby Super Star Ultra
  • Metroid Prime: Hunters
  • Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
  • Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Games that rattle a lot:
  • Bangai-O Spirits
  • Yoshi's Island DS

Games that don't rattle:
  • Elite Beat Agents
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
  • Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure
  • Retro Game Challenge
  • Game Center CX 2
  • LoZ: Phatom Hourglass
  • Animal Crossing: WW
  • Super Mario 64 DS
  • Mario Kart DS
  • Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: March of the Minis
  • Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
  • Mario & Luigi: Bowser's inside Story
  • New Super Mario Bros.
  • Meteos
  • Yoshi Touch & Go
  • Tetris DS
  • Metroid Prime: Hunters [First Hunt]
  • Brain Age 2

I'm missing Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. Feel free to compare and contrast. Though, it only seems to be consistent with D3 games as I've thought.

Alright, time for this thread to live up to its title and switch gears. I've just watched a BBC4 presentation of Gameswipe.

It's not sophomoric and pandering like anything on G4, which means it's actually viewable to anyone who speaks in complete sentences.

It should be in the related videos bar. If not, copy-paste the link and view the uploader's channel.

You have to be pulling my leg.

Quote:
The Achievement hunter, who's going to make purchase decisions around the Achievements per minute to ratio - he's probably buying ten to twenty titles a year, or at least playing that many, He's playing a lot. So he's a very frequent customer, and you want to be in that pile...If you're talking about a triple-A game selling between 1 and 2.5 million units. You're talking tens of thousands of units of impact there
I'm just completely baffled here. According to Randy Pitchford there are between 10 and 40 thousand people who will buy or rent a game specifically because it has easy achievement points? I have to wonder if these people think they are gaming the system, because it seems that the exact opposite is true. I wonder how long it is before they start advertising that on the box.

They should make books that give G points so they read. Or make achievements like "It's A Big, Wide World Out There: Spend a day outside" and "Respect Your Elders: Volunteer at a Retirement home."
