That's right! Our team (which is now called "Battle! Studio") has worked these past few weeks in order to bring you a new, better, polished version of Spectrum Spelunker, with new features! You can download it at its temporary home here at drak's page, It Is an Egg Pudding:
http://www.itisaneggpudding.com/inde...ther&page=sbwg ...and a direct download link: http://www.itisaneggpudding.com/misc...mSpelunker.zip And here is a big list of everything that we changed - I took the comments we have received into account, and if you didn't like the game before, I encourage you to try it again. - To address criticism that the game does not increase in difficulty fast enough, expert players may make use of Shiny Blocks, which can double the point value of a combo and turn Bothersome Blocks into normal ones. Utilizing the Shiny Blocks, players can progress through the game much faster than before. - The difficulty of the game caps out at a higher difficulty level. - A new game mode was created for those who hated keeping track of switching between three colors - Simple Mode, which has only red and blue blocks. The backgrounds are monochrome in Simple Mode - not as punishment for not playing the Classic Mode, but to help the blocks stand out more. A lot of the backgrounds look really neat in monochrome, too. See if you can traverse the whole rainbow! - All the stages (except the first and another one) have new background art done by the masterfiul artists Krys and Emily! - There are two new stages with new background songs! The stages are also now spaced closer together, so players can go through them faster. On good days, I'm able to get through a stage before the music loops once. - Hue now backflips when he jumps off of walls! - A new options screen allows you to change the music volume and gives you the option to change the stomping input to a single tap rather than a double tap. - The controls have been improved! It's easier to hit blocks directly above you (just hold the jump key), and pressing down while on the ground executes a tiny jump, allowing you to stomp more quickly. You can also now pause the game by pressing space. - It's slightly easier to pull off combos that are in the middle of disappearing off the left side of the screen. - The title screen and menus have been improved. - The Homo Block has been changed to the "Samey Block" for reasons that baffle me. - A credits sequence has been added! To get to it, you have to progress far enough to reach the final stage, scoring at least 750,000 points. There's another, easier way to get to it, but I'll never tell... - A new song for the high score tables, bringing the game's total song count from 8 up to 12. Thank you all for your feedback! I hope you all continue to enjoy this game and our future offerings. This is the last build that will be released before we make the final, fully featured version of Spectrum Spelunker in Objective-C. We've got plans for a port to the iTunes App Store, as well. But that's a long way off, so until then, enjoy this polished version of the contest game! And remember to shoot blocks to win the game! Last edited by Rixx; 12-07-2008 at 02:11 PM. |

Very entertaining game. I think I am getting addicted. I like the artwork and the little guy is adorable. I just have a two things that I noticed on-the-go:
Once out of the window, mouse cursor disappears. This may be only an error on my part? I did not know how to fix this error. And this might just annoy me a little bit, but if the majority doesn't seem to find it bothering then that's ok: Spacebar 'pausing' can be annoying. Especially at the beginning I didn't know how to jump, I paused quite often. Other than that, very enjoyable and cute game. Keep up the good work! |

I also have this mouse cursor error but I assumed it was normal... the games perfectly functional anyway, though it gets slightly out of hand if you accidentally enlarge the window instead of closing it, like I did.
Twice. Silly me. Edit: Ooooooh it keeps my high scores from the original version? I didn't know it could do that. That is nifty. Edit-edit: I've since made an avatar! Comic? STAY TUNED
