Default Go Beryllium!

Here's my entry, called Go Beryllium! It's a quantum-electrodynamical-shmup. In other words, it's a shooter with photons and protons and electrons and muons and quarks and snarks.

No wait, there's no snarks.

It's an endurance shooter, where your objective is to stay alive as long as possible, so it's very hard. The colour theme will be incorporated in 2 ways. Firstly the enemies will shoot different frequency photons at you in different patterns, which is important because you'll have to move through many different patterns at once. Secondly, the player must collect quarks, which come in 3 colours - red, green and blue. Collecting varying amounts of each colour will power up the player in different ways.

I haven't quite figured out all the powerups yet - still working on that bit. In the meantime, here are some screenshots:

It looks awsome. I know some chemistry geeks that will get a real kick out of it when you are done.

Lol. Funniest bad joke I've heard all week :P

I have the feeling there's a whole bunch of chemical references in the game I'm too dumb to understand, lol. But it certainly looks interesting. Screenshots look kinda messy, but that's normal for a shmup, I guess

Oh god, I lol'd at the 'Cathode Ray'

OH SHIT, you made Harpooned? I love that game. I can never pass up a round of 'poon!

(Although I took issue with the message- maybe the guys are hunting whales, but activists are hurting humans because they believe that animals are 'better' than animal killers. I'm doing Uwe Boll when I meet any of the fuckers at ALF or Sea Shepard or any of the other psychotic dickhead groups, I'm going to introduce them to Mr. Lead Pipe)

Well here's not really the place to take up this discussion, so feel free to message me or post on harpooned.org if you want to continue it. However, to set the record straight neither Greenpeace nor Sea Shepherd have ever hurt anyone, nor have they said that they believe animals are better than people. I think you're confusing them with P.E.T.A and A.L.F. which are radical, violent groups who do hurt people.

Please let me know if your name doesn't show up correctly on the online scoreboard. I'm trying to track down a bug where corrupted names are submitted to the scoreboard. Be sure to read the instructions page before playing!
